How Our Calculators Work
We believe in transparency. Here are the exact formulas used to power our academic tools.

Variables Explained:
- Σ:The symbol for summation, meaning to add up a series of numbers.
- Grade Points:The numerical value assigned to a letter grade (e.g., A=4.0, B=3.0).
- Credits:The number of credit hours for a specific course.
Cumulative GPA Formula
(Old Quality Points + New Quality Points) / (Old Credits + New Credits)
Variables Explained:
- Old Quality Points:Calculated as (Current GPA * Current Credits).
- New Quality Points:The total quality points from your current semester courses.
Final Grade Formula
[Desired % - (Current % * (1 - Weight %))] / Weight %
Variables Explained:
- Desired %:The final percentage you want to achieve in the course.
- Current %:Your current grade percentage before the final exam.
- Weight %:The weight of the final exam as a decimal (e.g., 25% = 0.25).
Course Grade Formula
Σ (Grade % * Weight %) / Σ Weight %
Variables Explained:
- Grade %:The grade you received on an assignment (e.g., 95 for 95%).
- Weight %:How much the assignment is worth towards your final grade.
